Aussie hospitality shines with record-breaking awards entries
Australiaโs hospitality scene is buzzing, with a record number of businesses throwing their hats in the ring for the 2025 Hostplus Awards for Excellence.
Run by the Restaurant & Catering Association (R&CA), this yearโs awards have attracted more nominations than ever โ a big thumbs up for an industry thatโs all about passion, people, and bouncing back stronger than ever.
So, whatโs behind the boom in entries? According to R&CA, itโs thanks in part to a new consumer tagging campaign that got foodies involved. For the first time, everyday Aussies were invited to tag their favourite venues online โ and they showed up in a big way, with over 20,000 organic tags shining a spotlight on local hospitality stars.
โThe public response has been overwhelming,โ said R&CAโs National President, John Hart OAM. โItโs a clear sign that hospitality businesses remain central to how Australians connect. Weโre proud to celebrate the thousands of operators whoโve put their names forward, and the communities that got behind them.โ
This yearโs awards feature more than 45 categories, covering everything from New Venue to Event Catering and Service Excellence โ and entries have come in from every state and territory. Regional businesses in particular are stepping into the spotlight, with a noticeable rise in participation outside the big cities.
Judging is now underway, with the first of the state and territory awards nights set to kick off in the coming weeks. Finalists will be announced around six weeks before each local gala event.
The Restaurant & Catering Association is the national voice for Aussie cafรฉs, restaurants, caterers and hospitality suppliers. With more than 100 years of experience behind them, the team at R&CA offers support through expert advice, practical tools, and awards programs like the Hostplus Awards for Excellence.
