4 ways your Instagram profile can help your target audience find you
Maximise your Instagram profile and you’ll maximise your followers and engagements, says So Social founder Amani Youseff.
In a technologically advancing society that manifests, communicates and engages across social media platforms such as Instagram, itโs paramount to utilise your Instagram profile to its fullest potential.
Keeping your Instagram profile updated with posts and stories on a daily basis is a good start. However, there are some tools your Instagram profile has that many don’t know exist.
Here are four easy ways to use your Instagram profile to increase the likelihood your target audience will find you.
One of the most commonly overlooked sections is actually the most used item on Instagram – your name!
Most people don’t know that the โnameโ section in their Instagram bio is actually searchable. Think of it as the SEO of Instagram.
So whether you have a few emojis, a few dates or even a quote, it is recommended you regularly change your bio to include trending keywords. Do this on a monthly basis so you can be found in new searches too.
You should also add a location in front of the keywords, for example “Sydney Photographer” so that you appear in targeted localย searches.
In one of Instagramโs latest updates, they included a function that allows you to pin your top performing posts to the top of your profile. These posts then become the first visible item to anyone viewing your profile.
You have three seconds to impress someone when they find you on Instagram, so you need to make your top posts count. Being able to pin your best performing posts to the top means they will really define the way you are perceived. So ensure that whatever you pin, they represent your brand in the best possible light.
With only 150 characters allowed in your bio, you don’t want to waste characters on words that wonโt give you an edge above your competition.
The main points you need to cover in your Instagram profile bio include:
Make sure all of this copy is on-brand.
For example, if your brand is fun, the tone of your description should be fun, friendly and welcoming. Conversely, if your brand is more professional, ensure that the tone is skilful, sharp and expert.
One of the easiest and quickest way to gain a follower (or a few thousand!) is to include a link in your Instagram profile bio.
A link quickly drives potential follower to view other items that are related to your brand. This is especially helpful if you have a multitude of other social media accounts or platforms that you use.
If you have multiple links that you want your audience to be exposed to, it’s a great idea to consolidate all your links using a platform like Linktree. That way you can showcase all of your external links in the one place.
