ChatGPT comes to Salesforce delivering smart tools for businesses
The world’s favourite Generative AI is clocking in for office duty with Salesforce announcing a partnership with OpenAI to incorporate ChatGPT into its newly announced Agentforce 360 platform.
The partnership will see ChatGPT5 diving into CRMs, analysing data, and even helping businesses sell stuff directly through chat.
Agentforce 360 users will be able to pull up sales records, review customer conversations or create a Tableau visualisation all simply by asking ChatGPT.
“Our partnership with Salesforce is about making the tools people use every day work better together, so work feels more natural and connected,” said Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO of OpenAI.
Salesforce head honcho Marc Benioff suggests the move will bring the intelligence consumers have become accustomed to business.
“As consumers, we already get instant recommendations or insights from ChatGPT. Now enterprises can deliver that same intelligence and immediacy. By uniting the world’s leading frontier AI with the world’s #1 AI CRM, we’re creating the trusted foundation for companies to become Agentic Enterprises.”
Benioff says If your team lives in Slack, you’ll soon see ChatGPT popping up there too. The integration means you can ask it to summarise long threads, draft posts or even surface insights from past convos.
For the techies, Codex, OpenAI’s code-writing wizard, can now be tagged inside Slack channels to whip up or edit code on the fly. Just tag @Codex and it’ll get to work faster than you can say “bug fix”.
While amping up productivity may seem like the obvious benefit of the OpenAI partnership, the integration will also change how businesses engage wth customers and how customers purchase.
The partnership’s not just about office productivity. It’s also changing Agentforce Commerce will plug into ChatGPT’s Instant Checkout, letting shoppers find and buy products right inside the chat, while merchants keep full control of orders, payments and customer relationships.
Picture this: a customer’s chatting about weekend marathon, mentions they need new runners, and boom — your favourite running store’s product pops up with a one-click checkout. No tab-hopping, no lost carts.
The flow-on effects could be huge for Aussie small businesses. For one thing, it means AI is becoming more accessible, built into the everyday tools we’re already using. That could translate to less admin and smarter customer service.
OpenAI’s tech is already live inside Salesforce’s Agentforce platform, with more integrations rolling out later this year. Slack users can jump in now to test ChatGPT and Codex features.
